Social Skills Training

Social skills training is important when your child has trouble socialising or communicating. In this webinar, we will share different techniques that you can use to develop social skills and how to apply them.

Social skills training involves the use of ABA procedures to strengthen and increase an individual's social skills. The purpose of social skills training is to help children build meaningful relationships through effective communication, play skills and social interaction with peers.

Differential Reinforcement

Is your child displaying challenging behaviors? Attend our Differential Reinforcement webinar where we teach you methods to reduce inappropriate behaviors and increase appropriate socially significant behaviors.

Here’s a little more about differential reinforcement – it is a specific application of reinforcement, where certain responses are reinforced, while others are not. The purpose of differential reinforcement is to reduce the occurrence of maladaptive behaviors and increase the occurrence of alternative functional behaviors. This is achieved by reinforcing desired responses and withholding reinforcement for undesired responses. Different types of differential reinforcement and specifics of their application will be discussed during the webinar.

Positive Behavior Support is an evidence-based framework which is effective for schools to increase positive behaviors and skill acquisition in students. As Positive Behavior Support is a three-tiered system, it can be implemented throughout the entire school population. One of the central tenets that we will cover in Positive Behavior Support is to utilize reinforcement versus using punishment-based procedures to reduce challenging behaviors.

What are socially significant behaviors?

Presented by: Yvonne Yap

If you are a parent looking to improve your child’s daily life and positively impact their social relationships, it is important to target skills and behaviors that are socially significant.

What are socially significant behaviors?

These are behaviors that have both immediate and long-term positive impact on the learner’s wellbeing. In this virtual presentation, you will learn how to select and prioritize certain behaviors that are more impactful. For example, teaching a four-year-old how to use the spoon for eating would be more socially significant than teaching to solve addition problems.
